Class Reallocation

Dear Parents,

I hope you are well.

May I indicate some matters to you. At the end of the last academic year, we had a significant movement of teaching staff back to their home countries. The summer vacation has been spent filling these posts with suitably qualified teachers. Student numbers in some year groups have changed and as a small school we have had to reallocate staff and students effectively. As students move into their next stage of education there are different requirements on them, notably the change from Primary to Middle School and Middle School to Seniors. In Primary students are taught in class groups but as they progress up the school subject specific classes are held with specialist teachers in most subjects. Friendship groups cannot be catered for as the only way of creating class allocation. In seniors English and Mathematics are in ability groups which may not be those of their friends. Mentor time, breaks, PE classes allow students a mix. Option subjects also are chosen which lead to their future career directions which will also differ between individuals. We are now facing the very difficult situation of a significant numbers of older students wishing to change classes I regret to say we are unable to accommodate these requests.

Thanking you for your kind co-operation

Regards,

Jan Brettingham Ms
